Untold SA has spoken out against the recent murders of women in South Africa including the discovery of a number of women’s bodies in the Ekurhuleni area over the past two months.
In the statement issued, the organisation expressed its sorrow over the lives lost to Femicide and gender-based violence, remembering women not only as statistics but as people with families, communities and futures.
The organisation said “enough is enough!” Highlighting the fear that many women and girls continue to live with as gender-based violence continues being a devastating reality in South Africa.
Untold SA extended its condolences to the families and loved of the women who were victims, while also standing in solidarity with survivors of gender-based violence.
As an organisation working directly with communities and families affected by these realities, Untold SA also called on government, law enforcement and the justice system to make the safety of women a national priority.
The organisation reaffirmed that its own work will continue to focus of protection, prevention, education and support for women and girls in communities in which it serve.
Through its holistic model of care, Untold SA works with beneficiaries across five areas: physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual – as part of its nine months programme of transformation.
Untold SA says that the call is clear – women and girls should be able to live their lives without fear of violence.
