Home is a place filled with rich history and great memories.

Mamelodi which means mother of melody is a township situated in Pretoria filled with rich history dating back to the. The township is the home to one of the biggest soccer teams in South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns.

With the second instalment of the two rivals Kaizer Chiefs vs. Mamelodi Sundowns, Shell Helix Ultra-Cup approaching on the 12th of October, we got an opportunity to tour the home of Mamelodi Sundowns; from visiting monumental places such as the Solomon Mahlangu statue to visiting restaurant franchises that emerge from Mamelodi.

We also visited the home of Joel Fire Masilela who used to play for the team.   Joel’s mother went down memory lane and told us how much soccer means to her, how Mamelodi Sundowns has always been her favourite team and how excited she was when she found out that her son would be playing for the team.

Sundowns has changed the community and has made sure that they give the children in the community hope, that someday if they practice enough they too can be part of the amazing team.
