Talented thespian Wiseman Mncube is set to join Showmax’s much-loved telenovela, The Wife. The star will replace Bonko Khoza on the shows’ much-anticipated season 3.

It’s been confirmed that Wiseman Mncube will replace Bonko Khoza on The Wife.

The production company responsible for the masterpiece, Stained Glass confirmed that the Uzalo star will play Mqhele in season three.

Bonko who had an enormous impact on the series and has resonated a lot with its fans was announced to have exited the telenovela last week. Reasons for the exit are unclear at this point.

Mncube is best known for the roles in many television shows such as; Gold Diggers, EHostela and Uzalo.

His role as Sbonelo on Sabc 1’s most watched soapie, Uzalo made him a household name.

 He is an award-winning actor who has honed his craft in the many roles he gets to bring to life. In 2020, he won the Best Actor Award in the TV Drama category at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) for his role “Jama” in Ehostela. In the same year, he won another award at the Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards.

Speaking about this newly bagged recital Mncube said, “Mqhele is a very interesting role and I’m in my element. There’s a lot to chew on and play off, from the love story to the anger, to the care. Bonko [Khoza] carried the role with so much respect and power.”

The Wife will make a return with a brand new eight-part special, which will take viewers behind the scenes of the hit telenovela to find out more about its characters.

New episodes of The Wife: Behind The Veil will air from 5 to 26 August. The much-anticipated third season of the telenovela will air in November.
