Cynthia Dinalane – founder of Tshegofatsa Rona welfare and community organisation has been honoured internationally for the exceptional selfless work she does for the community.
Dinalane founded Tshegofatsa Rona Welfare and Community organisation, which is an NPO that provides shelter – be it temporal or on an emergency basis, for victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Cynthia Dinalane flew all the way to London, United Kingdom to represent South Africa at the UK Universal Awards. She emerged as the first runner-up in the women empowerment category – beating 31 women from different countries who were also vying for the honour.
The 2nd runner-up was from the United Kingdom while the winner for the women empowerment category was from Asia.

In an exclusive interview with SA POSITIVE NEWS Cynthia Dinalane shared how she felt when she received the news of her nomination.
“I was overwhelmed and overjoyed as this was a huge milestone for me. To receive a global recognition meant the world to me. I’m used to being recognised locally and to represent my country on the world stage was just unbelievable and amazing. I’m grateful to God”.
“Thirty-two countries were represented in the women empowerment category, and I was the first runner-up.”
The entire nation is beaming with pride as one of our very own represented us so proudly on a global stage.
Cynthia Dinalane is a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with. A true South African icon at the forefront of curbing the scourge of Gender Based Violence and the overall wellbeing of women and children.
Tshegofatsa Rona Welfare and Community organisation also established GBV awards, now in its 3rd instalment – the awards aim to honour and celebrate humanitarians on the ground doing the Lord’s work in ending GBV.
Cynthia Dinalane told SA POSITIVE NEWS that the awards are back with a bang and will now be a national phenomenon.
“Now we call them National Annual GBV Awards. Nominations opened from 15 May 2024 and will close 30 November 2024. We are calling all South Africans to nominate their trailblazers”, said Dinalane.
She continued: “The third annual National GBV Awards ceremony will be a bigger and more entertaining event, bigger than all previous years.”
The third annual National GBV Awards will take place March 29, 2025.
