Georgina Mapule Mphatshwe is a resilient force to be reckoned with. She has an admirable selfless demeanour, and a heart truly made of gold. The mother of three is currently employed as a traffic officer at Rand West City local municipality.
Mapule describes herself as “a bubbly, family orientated person who loves to be around people” She is currently completing her LLB degree. She is the founder and CEO of a non-profit company – Mapule Mphatshwe Foundation, in pursuit of leaving an indelible mark in her community.
Mphatshwe is undoubtedly a multifaceted goddess, with dominating presences as a traffic officer and a humanitarian at heart. Her numerous impressive achievements and hunger for success are what makes her an undeniable force to be reckoned with.
In an exclusive interview with SA POSITIVE NEWS Mapule reiterated that out of all the numerous hats she wears, making a difference in the lives of the marginalized and impoverished communities is her favourite one.
“My favourite hat would be the Founder and CEO of Mapule Mphatswe Foundation because there was a time in my life where my mom lost her job and we struggled a lot to survive, it was very difficult for my family. That season taught me a lesson that sharing is caring, as young as I was – I told myself that when I start to work, I’m going to share what I have with the less fortunate, hence I established this foundation for the needy and less fortunate.”
Mapule Mphatshwe Foundation is an NPC that focuses on helping the neediest in communities. It was founded in 2008, officially established in 2021 and has since been cooking and donating clothes for a disadvantaged area in Mapule’s community – plot 17.
Mapule Mphatshwe foundation went on to host many more events that have in many ways been beneficial to communities at large.
* Charity drive – donated school shoes to the less fortunate learners at Mohlakano Primary School in Mohlakeng.
* Donated school shoes and bags to orphans at St John orphanage home in Zenzele.
* Working closely with Mpheseriti Welfare, a shelter that houses orphans and cooks for more 100 people per day.
* Christmas Charity Drives.
* Mapule Mphatshwe and her son established a garden for those in need.
* Working closely with Tshegofatso Ya Rona welfare in Kempton Park. Donating clothes and groceries
“I’m not getting any sponsors to support my foundation, everything that I do is money directly from my pocket. Using my own resources is not easy but I’ll keep on pressing on because I know I’m helping those in need and the disadvantaged”, said Mphatshwe.
Georgina Mapule Mphatshwe is a nominee at this year’s 6th South African Heroes Awards under the Community Service category. The awards honour and celebrate unsung heroes who are building their communities.
