Idols SA has served as a great opportunity for musicians to hone their craft and take their careers to greater heights since its first episode in 2002.
The show has been airing for over 21 years and has managed to produce an array of stars such as Paxton, Khaya Mthethwa, Musa Sukwene, Amanda Black, Loyiso, Mmatema and much more.
It has been a household phenomenon since its inception – from laughter based on Rendall’s comments to many memorable moments based on the road to the finale. Idols South Africa has officially come to an end as they announced the last season of the year.
The show has been renewed for the 19th season which will happen this year, but that will be the final season.
It’s reported that Idols South Africa got the boot based on viewers fatigue and ratings drop. The show’s fan base drastically dropped in recent years. The winners are still struggling to penetrate the music industry; in fact, it is those who didn’t win who are doing much better.
It has indeed been a good run as we have experienced the good as well as the bad with the idols crew. We have seen the change in judges to the returning contestants in new seasons. It has opened up many doors for many aspiring musicians ready to take the music industry by storm.
The final season promises to be an unforgettable extravaganza as they plan to close off the show with the best roster of judges. We definitely trust and believe that the show will close off with a bang.
Auditions for Season 19 start in February 2023.
