Tshegofatso Precious Lepedi, a designer breaking boundaries in the fashion world, is set to leave a mark with her unmatched creativity and versatility. From avant-garde styles to streetwear, her designs know no limits, reflecting a wide artistic vision and boundless innovation.
Lepedi is a fashion visionary, her designs empower individuals to express themselves through fashion, transcending boundaries and inspiring self-confidence, her innovative approach captivates audiences worldwide.
Tshegofatso’s journey began at the Northwest School of Design in 2016, where her talent caught attention early on. Collaborating with renowned designer Gert-Johan Coetzee during her third year, she laid the groundwork for her future success. Joining K.Moraba & Collective further enriched her skills, refining her unique style and approach.
In an exclusive interview with SA POSITIVE NEWS The fashion guru revealed that working with Gert-Johan Coetzee was a notable highlight for her and propelled her fashion career to greater heights.
“Interning for esteemed designers like Gert-Johan Coetzee was enriching. Moving forward, I aspire to collaborate with icons like Valentino Garavani and Coco Chanel”, said Precious.
“My mission is to offer individuals exclusive, stylish, and high-quality clothing options,” continued Tshegofatso, highlighting her dedication to empowering self-expression through fashion.
Her passion for design traces back to childhood when she found joy in sketching and crafting clothes for her dolls. Encouragement from teachers and peers during high school affirmed her calling, igniting her creativity. Raised in a household where her mother also crafted garments, she was immersed in a world of creativity from a young age, fuelling her passion for design and sewing.
Tshegofatso is adamant that her mom played a pivotal role in her passion for fashion.
“Observing my mother create garments ignited my passion for fashion. I found myself sketching clothes frequently, realizing my calling as a fashion designer early on. As I delved deeper, my passion only intensified, shared Lepedi.
When SA POSITIVE NEWS asked the question, “how would you describe your style of designing? What is your signature that differentiates you from other fashion designers?”, Lepedi had this to say:
“My design style covers a wide range, from casual streetwear to high-end bridal looks. But what sets me apart is my dedication to crafting custom pieces. I love it when my clients give me free rein to get creative with their idea. Each garment is tailored specifically for the wearer, ensuring a perfect fit and a look that’s entirely unique. So, when you wear one of my designs, you can be confident that you won’t see anyone else in the same outfit at the event.”
Despite initially studying psychology, Tshegofatso’s love for fashion led her to fashion school, where she honed her skills and pursued her dream of becoming a designer. Today, she stands as a beacon of talent and perseverance in the fashion industry. She has some exciting things in store set to be released this year.
