Congratulations are in order as Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) conferred four South African luminaries with honorary doctorates in the humanities and management sciences in recognition of their contributions to business, fashion, music, and art.

Internationally acclaimed singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka, fashion designer David Tlale, property developer Dr. Kazamula Michael Nkuna and legendary Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu were all honoured with an honorary doctorate for their endless contributions in their respective fields.

David Tlale, who bagged an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) in Fashion took to Instagram to share the news, much to the delight of his 234K followers.

Tlale said he is humbled as he dedicates the degree to his Mom and all his friends.

“I am humbled to be Conferred by @tut_official2 with the Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Design. Much appreciation and love. I dedicate This Doctorate Degree to my Mom Joyce’ my family, friends the media and my beautiful country South Africa… to my team thank you… God Your Grace is Sufficient for me.” He captioned the post.

“These are giants in their fields, with decades of ground-breaking achievements and contributions to show for their dedication and talent,” said TUT’s spokesperson Phaphama Tshisikhawe.

“Furthermore, we look forward to much collaboration and engagement with the recipients, as we know our academic programmes and students will benefit greatly”, Tshisikawe concluded
