The SABC, in partnership with the Northern Cape Provincial Government is set to donate 20 computers to Monwabisi Secondary School in Nzwakazi Location near De Aar. The initiative comes as part of the back-to-school campaign, which helps the schools and learners that need the necessary support tools, for them to reach their goals.
“This is an important initiative for the SABC as we continue to enrich the minds and lives of learners through our CSI and educational interventions.” said Gugu Mtshali the GE Corporate Affairs and Marketing.
She further declares, “As the public broadcaster, we firmly believe in educational support as a vehicle to develop human capital and enhance a more democratic, cohesive society.” They are looking forward to fulfilling their educational mandate by extending the movement to more schools across South Africa.
Zolile Monakali, who is the Northern Cape MEC of Education, welcomes the contribution made by the SABC and sees the broadcasting channel as the “partner for educational development” in the province. He goes ahead to say that the project is a great example of corporate responsibility as Education transitions into the 4IR. Monakali applauds the SABC for understanding that the computers are going to open a world of possibilities for their students.
The Northern Cape Premier, Dr Zamani Saul stated that “The Northern Cape Provincial office not only welcomes the contribution by the SABC, but we will continue to partner with our public broadcaster as one of our key regional stakeholders, who are committed to bettering the lives of the learners and the communities in the province.”
