Teen Author Stacey Fru Receives Young African Visionary Award

Seventeen-year-old Author, Stacey Fru has been selected as a distinguished recipient of the Future is Female & Men Champions Award. The Leading Women of Africa (LWA) Men Champions and Future is Female Awards are esteemed accolades recognising the exceptional efforts of individuals who champion gender equality.

Endorsed by the late Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, these awards honour both men and women who are instrumental in unlocking the potential of women and empowering them to assume leadership roles in various sectors. The Africa Partnership for Growth (APG) Symposium & Awards is an annual gathering of entrepreneurs, policymakers, and financial and technical partners from both public and private sectors.

“I was meant to receive the trophy during the Africa Partnership for Growth Symposium & Awards 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa on November 23rd, 2024, but unfortunately, due to school commitments I could not attend in person”, said Stacey Fru. 

“I thank Leading Women of Africa for this incredible honour. I’m humbled and inspired. This award is not just for me. It is for every girl and boy who strives for excellence. Let us continue to break barriers and build a brighter future together”.

Other Honours Fru has received this year include Winner of Forty Under 40 Africa Awards 2024 in the Authorship and Creative Writing category.

“My remarkable journey began when I penned my very first book, “Smelly Cats,” at the age of 7, without my parents’ initial knowledge. Notably, I hold the distinction of being the youngest author whose book has been approved as suitable educational material for primary schools in South Africa. My dedication to accessibility is evident as one of my books is available in both Braille and Daisy formats”.
