Idols SA is set to be renewed for the 18th season and fans’ favourite Somizi “SomG” Mhlongo is back by popular demand.
Somizi was not part of the last season’s edition of the hit reality singing competition because of abuse allegations made by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung. As witnessed by all of Mzansi as well as the Idols SA team, viewership dropped profusely following Somizi’s exit which just went to show that viewers loved him and wanted him back.
Unfortunately, Unathi will not be part of the new season of Idols SA. Unathi is reported to have been forcefully axed from the judging panel. It is not clear whether or not the reason Unathi is being shown the door is because of the drama that took place between her and fellow media personality Sizwe Dhlomo.
The two had gotten into a very heated altercation that saw Unathi accuse Sizwe of allegedly insulting her. That quickly spiraled out of control, costing Unathi her job at Kaya FM.
Despite being sad to see “Unsta” being shown the door at Idols SA, we are ecstatic to have our beloved Somgaga back.
We can’t wait for the new season!!!
