” I will push my own brand until the right time…”
He is one of the most talented rappers to come out of Bloemfontein. Don Tally as affectionately known amongst his peers; real name Thato Montso, is fast becoming one of the most talked about stars from his province.
He is ready to drop his single titled Ke Tauwe Fuu featuring Sebata and Frog. Soon after that he will release his EP. The 20-year-old rapper says it took him courage and believing in his music to get to where he is today.
“It has not been easy. I have had to make many sacrifices,” he says. He was meant to study law and pursue a career as a legal practitioner but he chose music over everything. “When I told my father this is what I wanted, I was lucky that he supported me and is helping me to live my dream.”
Even with his father’s support, he also has to hustle. Don Tally first took on small-piece jobs to help push his dream. “I was working small jobs at Wimpy, selling food here and there. I would sell what I was able to get my hands on, but all legal. I mostly sold food and used the money to fund my dream,” he says.
Don Tally says he has earned his keep in the game, and he hopes to work with big names.
“My favourite rapper currently is A Reece, I hope to one day collaborate with him,” he says. “But in the meantime, I will push my own brand until the right time.”
The future certainly is bright for this young man. Maglera, Casper Nyovest and Nasty C must be on the look out because Don Tally is about to dominate the Hip hop scene and we are here for it.
