The class of 2022 is a group of outspoken, smart, fierce and of course larger than life women ready to be the change, they want to see in the world.
For the first time ever, 30 Finalists were selected instead of 25. Due to the high calibre of the Semi-Finalists this year, the Judges had a tough time narrowing it down and made the unanimous decision to select 30 Finalists. The panel was one to write home about, it was star-studded. It was rich in every sense of the word. It consisted of Jacqueline Ferns, Storm Johnson, Dr. Fezile Mkhize, Tansey Coetzee, Mankoana Nhlebela and Principal Judge, Matapa Maila.
“An Auspicious occasion” is what comes to mind when reminiscing about the prestigious event held at Winter Ball, Emperors Palace.
The fabulous event started out with a red carpet to remember with the Title Sponsor, The Phangela Group’s elite security team setting the scene. MC’d by internationally acclaimed Jo-Ann Strauss, the event started with a bang with entertainment by The Muses. The excitement in the room grew as everyone watched the Semi-Finalists take to the stage in stunning eveningwear. The evening culminated with the independent auditing team, PKF Octagon taking the official results to stage, and the top 30 Finalists being announced.
When asked about the top 30 announcement, the principal judge and chairperson of the board of Mrs South Africa, Matapa Maila had this to say…
“The exceptional panel of judges, that I was honoured to have led, agreed that the women this year across the board represented authenticity, passion, and power. The Mrs South Africa Finalists will have an exciting road ahead of them and I am looking forward to watching their sisterhood flourish as a new queen emerges later this year.”
The program has often been described as an “MBA of Life”, based on the Brand Pillars of: Self-development, Community Work, Network & the Mrs SA Platform. It offers married women a chance to invest in life skills, business skills and develop networks to leverage from in the future and is a PR vehicle with influencers to display the virtues of real, relatable African women. They are wives, in some cases mothers, some are entrepreneurs and most are change makers, some are businesswomen and others homemakers, but they all want the best for their families and their community. They are brave and bonafide women.
This year’s Queens are no exception. They personify all these qualities and it’s going to be so interesting to see who will come out victorious.
