Archery Queen Kamogelo Nicholson Destined for Success

Kamogelo Nicholson

Kamogelo Nicholson is taking the world of Archery by storm. Archery is the sport, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus, meaning bow. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat.

The 17-year-old young girl is a Grade 11 learner at Hoerskool Elspark. She started Archery in 2022 when learners at Hoerskool Elspark were required to participate in any sport activity of their choice, Kamogelo chose Archery.

In an exclusive interview with SA POSITIVE NEWS Kamogelo’s Mother Linda Nicholson took us down memory lane sharing some of Kamogelo’s early childhood memories. She believed that Kamogelo’s Archery journey would be a confidence booster – reminiscing about her very first Archery tournament.

“Kamogelo has always been a reserved, quiet person”, said Linda. “I attended 90% of her competitions but my first-time experience was memorable. I was clueless on what to expect and what was going on, I asked her a lot of questions. The experience was wonderful, having to learn something new and seeing her enjoying herself – that was a definite highlight for me.”

Out of all her illustrious accolades – Linda reveals that Kamogelo’s first national colours award is her favourite, simply because it’s so rare for a young black child to receive such a prestigious award and to top it all – Kamogelo Nicholson is the first person in her family to get national colours award.

Kamogelo is showing no signs of slowing down. Even with all the astounding success achieved thus far, The Archery Queen is grabbing the bull by the horns and striking while the iron is hot.

She has been selected to participate in the AGA Federation Archery Tournament in Namibia during August 2024.

Linda Nicholson is pleading with good Samaritans out there to sponsor/fund her in her quest to Conquer the world of Archery.

Why is it important to sponsor Kamogelo? you may ask…well, Linda Nicholson has the perfect answer for you.

“I would have to say because she is a young and dedicated black girl doing something different and positive with her life and also her passion for Archery is admirable, she is also preparing for Nationals in September 2024 in Kimberly. In the next 5 years I guess it’s safe to say that she will be competing in the Olympics.”
