2024 has been a sombre year in celebville. South Africa’s most loved and respected names in showbiz are sadly bidding us farewell one by one. Mzansi is mourning the demise of yet another icon – veteran broadcaster Thabiso Sikwane.

The renowned TV and radio broadcaster and producer extraordinaire died on Saturday, August 31, just weeks after celebrating her milestone 50th birthday.

The mother of three passed away in the early hours of the morning after reportedly being rushed to the hospital on Friday.

Thabiso Sikwane born 31 August 2024, 1974, was a South African radio and television personality, businesswoman and author. She was an award-winning radio broadcaster and talk show host with over a whopping 20 years of experience in the media industry. She was formerly the show host of the Kaya 959 radio station’s morning show, “Breakfast Show” alongside Jason Goliath and David O’ Sullivan.

She also worked for the Voice of Soweto, YFM, SAFM and Power FM.

Despite living in the limelight, the broadcaster was admired for always preferring to keep her private life away from the public.

The English and Sociology degree graduate was an absolute Jack of all trades – she was also the ambassador for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, an experienced swimming teacher and established her swimming academy.

The iconic broadcaster adored storytelling which then led her to add “author” to an already impressive CV. In December 2020, she released a children’s book, Modimo O A Go Rata, which translates to God Loves You. The book was a much-needed reminder to children that they are loved immensely.

The Sikwane and Matladi families have announced the memorial and funeral service for the late Thabiso Sikwane.

In a statement issued by the families; friends, colleagues, and supporters were respectfully invited to celebrate and honour the “life of a woman whose warm spirit, Christ-centeredness, intelligence, and wisdom touched the lives of many.”
