A tribute to Kuli Roberts

Kuli Roberts was a South African journalist, media personality, mainly specializing in fashion and beauty. The bubbly and oh so full of life Kuli was well known for co-hosting SABC2’s TV show “What Not to wear.”

Nomakula Roberts, popularly known by her stage name Kuli Roberts, was born on December 16 1973.  A multifaceted media personality, tabloid journalist, actor, TV and Radio host – she was also the editor of Drum magazine, fashion and beauty.

Kuli was also a columnist for Sunday World. She made her radio debut on Kaya FM and on TV hosted Trending S. She also recently starred in The Queen alongside Connie Ferguson and was cast for her Netflix hit local movie “Angelina”.  She was active in multiple businesses.

Kuli was married to Beyer’s Roberts whom she divorced. They were blessed with two children, daughter Tembela and son Laeun. She was also the grandmother of her daughter’s baby girl Isabella.

Kuli Roberts died on Wednesday evening. She collapsed at a function she had attended.  The exact cause of her death is yet to be mentioned.

Your larger than life personality was admirable Kuli. Your energy, contagious! Your talent, absolutely remarkable! Thank you for your endless contributions in the media industry. Rest in power! Rest in peace “Ngqangqa” “Ti ti ti” “Mo mo mo”
