Tshepo Mohlala is the founder of Tshepo Jeans, a local sleek denim brand that features a crown on its logo.
Inspired by the circumstances he grew up in, Tshepo made it a point to hold fast to his dream of having his denim on the world market and his dream has just come to life as his denim is to be worn by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
“About 4 weeks ago I got a call from the British embassy. The Duchess of Sussex placed an order for a pair of jeans and today she came to collect them personally. I Surprised her with a pair of dungarees for Archie and the rest is history”, Tshepo tweeted.
Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex graced Tshepo with her presence yesterday as she was at Victoria Yards in Johannesburg picking up her pair of jeans from TshepoJeans plus some dungarees for baby Archie.
Tshepo was thrilled about having the Duchess in his shop, He told her: “The crown on my jeans represents the three ladies who raised me. Enjoy wearing this crown.”
From the very beginning Tshepo always told his peers and those around him that he is not a celebrity designer but rather Mfana Wako Kasi with a dream, Tshepo the Jean Maker.
He took to Twitter with a message of encouragement to, “We’ve come too far to give up who we are
So let’s raise the bar and our cups to the stars”.
